d. Bogdan Mureșanu

Sunday, November 16, 7:00 PM

It’s December 20, 1989. Romania is boiling but no one talks about it. Life seems to go on as usual: censored theatre plays, demolished houses, proletarians gathered for a huge demonstration, students’ artistic moments mocking communism at the same time with New Year’s glorifying shows for Nicolae Ceaușescu. But in the dis-comfort of their unheated homes, people still struggle with the world’s ancient problems like the father-son difference of opinions, sweet nostalgia after an ex-lover or the hate towards the mother-in-law. And above all – The Secret Police is watching with vigilance. Six apparently parallel life stories meet along in some invisible points of this tragicomedy, and at a boom of a firecracker they all drive to a common resolution: the end of a world, the fall of the communist regime in Romania.
