Romania, 1989 — the twilight of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s dictatorship. In a small, isolated town, Maria, a ten-year-old girl, becomes the last witness to her sister’s mysterious disappearance. Torn by grief and fear, she struggles to understand a reality collapsing around her. Can she find the courage to grow up as the world she knows disintegrates? 

Director Mihai Mincan

Born in Bucharest, Mihai Mincan graduated in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest and later earned an MBA at the University of Poitiers. He directed the short films Alaska (2014), The Comet (2017), Idyll (2019), and Hunters in the Snow (2024), as well as the feature documentaries Bondoc (2015), Emigrant Blues (2019), and The Man Who Would Be Free (2019). His narrative feature debut, To the North, premiered in Venice’s Horizons competition in 2022.
